Maysa (She/Her)
"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion." bell hooks
Maysa (she/her) graduated with a degree in Biology from Mount Mercy University and worked in the biology field for several years. However, she realized that her true passion was in human-centered and relational work, which inspired her to return to Mount Mercy to pursue a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
As a student therapist, Maysa is committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and respectful environment where clients feel seen and supported. She is attentive to how culture, migration, and systems shape her clients’ identity, relationships, and lived experiences, just as her multicultural background and experience as an Arab immigrant have shaped her own life.
Maysa centers systemic and relational-cultural theories in her work and aims to foster growth through the power of meaningful relationships and gentle challenges. She brings curiosity, inclusivity, empathy, and authenticity to her therapeutic relationships with her clients and hopes that her clients feel empowered to bring all facets of themselves to their work together.
Outside of the therapy room, Maysa enjoys spending time with friends and chosen family, reading, engaging with expressive arts, being with nature, and playing board and computer games.
