Jackie (She/Her/Hers)
Jackie graduated from the University of Iowa in 2018 with a BA in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. After graduating, Jackie worked with the City of Iowa as a Special Events Coordinator and Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services, where she discovered a passion for working with disenfranchised and underserved populations, most specifically BIPOC and queer youth. She is currently pursuing a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount Mercy University and has a strong desire to be an accessible, culturally competent therapist serving the BIPOC and queer community in Iowa.
In her therapeutic work, Jackie seeks to foster a sense of deep curiosity and collaboration with her clients. She brings her authentic self to her sessions, and hopes that clients will feel comfortable being authentic with her in return. She believes in the importance of the therapeutic alliance and building a safe space for clients to explore their relationships with themselves, their families, and the world around them. While she will challenge you, she will do so with respect, empathy, and compassion, as she believes access to compassionate mental health care is vital for growth and success.
Outside of her therapeutic work, Jackie also serves as the Executive Director for the Gamma Rho Lambda Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to the support of members of Gamma Rho Lambda National Sorority – the first all-inclusive LGBTQIA+ sorority in the country – as well as supporting national philanthropic organizations such as the Trevor Project.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, attending pop-punk concerts, and DIY projects. Jackie also enjoys exploring body positivity and self-love through pole dancing courses, which serve as both physical exercise and self-esteem boosts!
