Tera (She/Her/Hers)

Tera is a Cedar Rapids native and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with her bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in Educational Studies in 2025. Tera has several years of experience working with children, adolescents, and teens with behavioral and mental health challenges as well as high-achieving and neurodivergent youth. Tera has spent time serving these populations in multiple settings, primarily at summer camps. Tera is incredibly passionate about making sure everyone feels seen and heard; she lives by her values of understanding, love, and caring. Tera truly believes that at the base of everything, everyone is a human and it is all of our first time living so everyone deserves some grace.

Tera’s style in the therapy room encompasses a collaborative, strength-based, and at times challenging approach. She encourages clients to be authentically themselves, and believes that honesty, curiosity, empathy, and compassion are essential when creating a safe and impactful therapeutic space for everyone. Tera uses elements of narrative, cognitive-based, and emotion-focused therapy models in her work. Tera’s therapeutic interests include family systems theory, attachment theory, social-emotional development, ambiguous loss/grief, coping with a medical diagnosis, and exploration of identity.

In Tera’s free time, she likes to keep busy moving her body in any way she can! That includes running, walking, climbing, and just being joyful. You can also find her surrounded by her family and friends, including her 2 cats. Tera always makes sure she gives a smile and a wave to anyone she sees because she believes saying hi is one of the best things that we can do!
