Suzanne (She/her/hers)

Suzanne has a background in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to international students and immigrants and also in creative writing and parenting/caregiving. She earned a B.A. in Global Studies from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in English/Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University. She enjoys meeting people from all over Iowa and beyond, with many different backgrounds and experiences. She views the whole world (our global society) with all its issues as one big family.

As a student therapist, Suzanne uses an integrative, collaborative approach in working with clients. She views clients as the experts of their lives and enjoys working together to explore deeper meanings, connections, growth, and well-being. Using person-centered and humanistic existential frameworks, Suzanne also has interest in Narrative Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) work. She believes everyone has a core, authentic essence that is wondrous and full of possibility. She is interested in both positive and negative connections between religion/spirituality and mental health/relational health as well. She values the use of creative arts (music, art, writing, etc.), nature, and self-care in our healing journeys.

Suzanne works with individuals, couples, and families/other relational systems
