In feeling seen by another person, we feel supported and safe. When we feel supported and safe, we can work through life’s struggles more easily. Sara understands the value of a strong therapeutic relationship and will strive to foster this with each client through attunement, empathy, respect and warmth. Sara is committed to working alongside you in a space free of judgement, moving at your pace to find an approach that feels comfortable for you. She would be honored to walk beside you in your therapeutic journey.

Time spent in relationship is lifegiving. Sara enjoys spending time with her family and friends including her husband of 29 years and four grown children. She enjoys reading and being outdoors where her soul is renewed. John Muir wrote, “In every walk with nature one receives far more than they seek.” This renewal from time spent in nature feels much like Sara’s experience with therapy, we often receive much more in the process of therapy than we set out seeking.

Prior to seeking a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Sara was a teacher and earned her Master’s degree in Developmental Reading. Over the years her teaching ranged from elementary students to college students, including teaching at the University of Iowa and Kirkwood. She truly enjoyed working with students who struggled with learning, tuning into their strengths to help them grow as learners.
