Ryan (he/him/his)

“The more we can cultivate curiosity and compassion towards ourselves, the more we can heal our wounds.” - Richard Schwartz

Ryan graduated from Iowa State University in 2018 with bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. After graduation, he spent several years working with young adults in youth shelters before transitioning to working with clients of all ages that have struggled with substance use disorders. Working with these populations offered up valuable new perspectives and has helped shape Ryan’s view on human development and how our environments can influence us.

Ryan views the client as the expert of themselves, and feels that therapy should reflect this for clients. Often, we can get overwhelmed by all of the things that life may throw at us; this can be when we need a helping hand! Ryan hopes to assist clients by helping them slow down a bit and take the time to really explore themselves and see who they are and what they value. With this insight, we can work together to find solutions for presenting concerns while also leaving space for self-compassion. Ryan will always value clients’ perspectives and hopes to be a calming presence that can help clients feel comfortable while working through challenges.

When not working or in the clinic, Ryan can be found spending time with his dog, watching TV or movies, exploring local parks, or spending time with family.
