Melissa (She/Her/Hers)

Hello and welcome! Life can be incredibly demanding and I’m excited that you are looking to collaborate with a therapist to improve yourself and your relationships. As a Marriage and Family Therapy graduate student at Mount Mercy University, I strive to balance caring support with gentle accountability to help clients clarify what matters most to them and take meaningful steps toward living a value-driven life. My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling empowered, connected to their strengths, and equipped to build a life that reflects who they truly want to be.

My role as a therapist is to provide a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to move toward the life you want to live. I believe every person is valuable and healing occurs through authentic connection, self-discovery, and purposeful action. My therapeutic approach draws from both Experiential Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); this combination helps clients learn positive communication patterns and mindfulness to develop mental flexibility to respond to life's challenges in ways that align with their deepest values.

As a mother of two young adults, I am compassionate to the struggles associated with aging, parenting, and family financial stress. I have spent more than twenty years working with children, adolescents, families, and community agencies in a variety of helping professions. I absolutely love working with teenagers/young adults and their families to create a strong, loving, accepting family unit. Also, having personally experienced medical trauma as a patient and as a parent, I hope to support clients and their loved ones navigate their medical anxieties and the emotional challenges of living with chronic illness.
