Keaton (He/Him)
Keaton began his career as a multimedia storyteller with a passion for helping people to share their own experiences through film production and journalism. Graduating from the University of Iowa in 2016 with a degree in Cinema Studies and Journalism and Mass Communications, Keaton spent the next decade working for nonprofits, the private business sector, and creative freelancers all aimed at empowering people to share their stories with others. The highlight of this work for him was working with individuals through the sometimes daunting and emotional process of figuring out how their own lived experiences translated into meaningful storytelling. The connections made while doing this work inspired him to pursue Marriage and Family Therapy.
As a therapist, Keaton strives to serve as a calming and engaging presence that gives people the space to show up with authenticity. He understands that we all have a unique, authentic self that can easily get lost as we struggle to navigate our relationships with one another. His goal as a narrative therapist is to help people access that sense of self to allow them to reengage with their lives in a way that feels honest and true.
Keaton’s love for the taboo and absurd helps to provide an environment free of judgment. Coming from a strength-based approach, he realizes that humor and absurdity can be vital tools in helping people to work towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships. He can balance light-hearted moments in therapy with the more grounded, difficult moments as he and his clients work collaboratively through any presenting issue.
In his free time, Keaton is a movie nerd, a bookworm, and enjoys distance running and thrifting for the tackiest shirts he can possibly find.
