Julia (She/They)
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
— Neil Gaiman, Coraline
Julia graduated with great distinction from Luther College with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Music and Counseling. Throughout their undergraduate education and beyond, she worked as a research assistant studying attachment and parent-child relationships, experiences that deepened their interest in family systems, attachment-focused therapy, and developmental psychopathology. Julia also has many years of experience working with children and families, which continue to inform her clinical perspective.
Julia believes that every person has inherent worth, resilience, and capacity for growth. They strive to create a therapeutic environment grounded in compassion, curiosity, and comedy, three values that guide her work. While therapy can involve difficult conversations and emotions, Julia believes that humor can be an important source of connection, perspective, and healing. She values authenticity and collaboration, seeking to meet clients where they are while challenging them toward meaningful growth and change. Julia believes meaningful healing happens in relationships and looks forward to getting to know each client’s unique story.
Outside of the office, Julia enjoys reading, painting, caring for her plants, and making music in whatever way she can.
