“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.” – Dr. Lauren Fogel Mersy
Gillian’s professional background is in Criminal Justice. Prior to enrolling in the MFT program at Mt. Mercy she held many roles in her 12-year career with the Department of Correctional Services. Most recently as a Probation/Parole Officer. She is grateful for the varied experiences gained while in this role. Gillian credits her career in Corrections with providing her the opportunity to collaborate with diverse populations while providing an understanding of the impact of systems. Her previous work experience deepened her desire to help support others navigate life’s challenges and move towards growth and healing.
Gillian strives to create a safe and compassionate space for clients. She believes that we all have the strength and resources for healing. Gillian firmly believes that we heal through connection and is honored to be a part of your healing journey. Her goal in therapy is to do collaborative and empowering work with clients, and to help people at all stages of life experience connection, healing, and hope. Gillian is excited to connect with clients from all backgrounds, ages, and diversities. She has a special interest in supporting those working through infertility, maternal mental health, grief, and loss.
When not in the clinic Gillian can usually be found enjoying the outdoors with her husband, children and two St Bernard’s. She also enjoys watching baseball, reading, binge watching Stranger Things, and photography.
