Deja is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, born and raised. She graduated in 2023 from Mount Mercy University with a B.S. in Psychology, along with a minor in Sociology. Over the past four years, she has worked at Tanager Place as both a youth service worker and a treatment interventionist working with children seeking growth towards a bright future! Deja is currently working with individuals aged from 4-18 years old and their families as a Behavioral Health and Intervention Services (BHIS) Provider. She engages in providing opportunities to practice and build behavioral skills in the form of games, art activities and service projects while utilizing the 7 Cs of Resilience to build these skills within her clients.
As a student therapist, Deja seeks to provide a therapeutic space for clients to be heard and understood no matter the circumstance(s). Deja understands that life was not made to be perfect and we all as humans make mistakes that can be perfectly recreated into blossoming creations. Deja believes that “you can do anything you put your mind to” and will always be willing to use this statement for motivational purposes pertaining positive change with her clients. Deja is fascinated with providing a therapeutic presence and looks forward to co-creating brilliant futures with her clients.
Outside of work, Deja loves to travel the world, exercise, sauna, play basketball, go to CFB/NFL games, jet ski, and go for boat rides in Florida where she grew up! She is excited for this new journey as a student therapist and looks forward to co-creating bright futures for her clients!
