Amanda Goslin, LMFT

Practicum Supervisor

Amanda Goslin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Amanda earned her BS in Psychology and MA in Marriage in Family Therapy at Mount Mercy University. She is currently earning her PhD in Psychological and Quantitative Foundations in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at the University of Iowa. As an adjunct professor at Mount Mercy University, she is currently a Practicum supervisor and teaches Systemic Sex Therapy.  In addition to her role at MMU she earned the University of Iowa Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and has taught various courses.

 

Amanda has clinical experience in a variety of settings including private practice, school settings, and served as the Clinic Coordinator for the LGBTQ Counseling Clinic at the University of Iowa. She was awarded the University of Iowa Clinical Excellence Award in 2023 where she was recognized for her commitment to clinical innovation. In addition to her experience, Amanda has completed extensive training in Sex Therapy and Sexuality Education in the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University of Michigan. She is currently under supervision to complete the requirements for AASECT Sex Therapy certification.

Amanda’s research contributions to the field have included authoring and co-authoring multiple publications and presenting at conferences. She is published in various academic journals including The Family Journal and Adversity and Resilience Science.  Her philosophy to research is utilizing research as an informative resource and tool to support her development in being a well- informed systemic clinician and educator. Amanda’s primary research has focused on positive body Image within the mother-daughter relationship, and the experience of MFT’s regarding their health behaviors influence on their clinical functioning.

Amanda values spending time with her family and challenging herself to learn and try new things. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys being active, traveling, watching the sunset, and attending live music concerts. Amanda’s guilty pleasure is binging on cringe-worthy reality TV shows.
