Sarah (she/her/hers)
“You are the sky. Everything else – it’s just the weather.” - Pema Chödrön
Sarah graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelors in Interdepartmental Studies with the specialization of Health Coach. She has since focused on dedicating time to her children and creating a small business that allowed the flexibility to create a balance fitting for her family. During that time, challenging experiences strengthened her desire to support others in a meaningful way. The MFT Graduate Program at Mount Mercy is fulfilling her dream and focusing that desire.
Sometimes life has a way of feeling like a storm. Sarah believes that all individuals have the courage to overcome these times if provided with an inviting environment. Her goal in therapy is to create that space through acceptance, connection, and compassion. Through a collaborative process she hopes to help individuals find their voice, create balance through mindfulness, and work towards their goals. Sarah understands that working towards change can be overwhelming. She is willing to be there with you to find peace within and be present the way you want to in life, through creating new meaning.
Sarah has special interest in creating a space of empathic understanding for parents balancing needs when adjusting to an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis within the family, and infants needing a stay in the NICU.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, knitting, camping, and raising Monarch butterflies.
