Michael graduated with a degree in ministry from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2018. Following graduation, Michael worked as a Worship Pastor and Worship Coordinator. Eventually, Michael switched gears and worked with at-risk youth, as well as providing Behavioral Health Intervention Services. Michael currently works in the Iowa City Community School District and as Student Family Advocate, in which he is able to work with families and student to build a connection with their local school, as well as assist families in getting their needs met by providing resources and referrals.
As a student therapist, Michael is excited to be part of each client's journey. He strives to work with all individuals to foster a welcoming therapeutic environment to initiate the change process. Change is difficult, it is challenging and can be painful at times, and it is vital to grow and be empowered. Michael is a Mexican American, and has made his life goal to support marginalized individuals and he is excited to offer therapy in Spanish.
