Josh (he/him/his)
Born and raised in Oregon before transplanting to Iowa in the mid 1990s, Josh is a graduate of Deep Springs College (California), as well as Cornell University (New York) where he received his undergraduate degree in History. After college he worked in Art Publishing before transitioning to a 20+ year career as an Internet Developer and IT Project Manager. He is the proud father of two adult children, and he considers parenting to be one of his several careers; raising kids is real work, and don’t let anyone tell you different.
Josh’s diverse upbringing and life experience has gifted him with a desire to connect with most anyone, and he brings this curiosity to his work with clients. Everyone has a story to tell, and it’s in those stories that opportunities for healing can be found. Josh believes that emotional healing is an ability that resides in all of us, though we sometimes get stuck in patterns of thought and behavior that block our healing and recovery—as individuals, couples, and families. His approach to therapy is that of helping clients work through these stuck points such that healing and growth can occur/resume.
When not in the Olson Clinic or class, Josh can usually be found reading, writing, hiking in the woods, or making new acquaintances while walking around town with his old dog, Korra.
