Cayla graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in both Psychology and in Gerontology: Long-Term Care Administration. She has worked the past 9 years in Long-Term Care as both an Administrator and a Social Worker, as well as, in Community-Based Social Services as a Family Caregiver Support Specialist and Case Manager serving individuals and families in various stages across the lifespan.  
 
Her personal and professional experiences have provided her with an opportunity to experience and deepen her understanding of many of life’s challenges to include grief and loss, mental health challenges, financial stressors, family structures, relationship dynamics, parenthood, caregiving challenges, aging, chronic illness, and more.  

As a Student Therapist, Cayla believes in the beauty of humankind and the power of human connection. She relies on personal values of authenticity, compassion, empathy, and connection to meet people where they are at in their journey of life. She strives to develop a relationship built on trust and safety to guide others throughout their journey of self-discovery, growth and healing. She believes that you are the author of your story, and that you hold the pen and the power to re-write it by leaning on your strengths, knowledge, experiences, and relationships.  

 

Outside of the Olson Clinic, Cayla enjoys spending time with her husband, her daughter, and her two dogs. She also enjoys coffee, sweets, cooking, kayaking, reading, listening to music (country, of course), and taking trips with her family.  

Cayla feels honored to be able to sit with you, your loved ones, or your families as you navigate all of life’s stages, phases, and transitions.
