Carissa (she/her/hers)

Carissa holds an M.A. in Conflict Management and Mediation from Roosevelt University and a B.A. in Multimedia Journalism and Public Relations from Columbia College Chicago. After living in Chicago for 10 years, Carissa moved to the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area to pursue her goal of becoming a licensed therapist. She is a certified mediator in the state of Illinois and has experience as both a crisis counselor and rape victim advocate.

Carissa believes that healing the past can influence positive change in the future. In order to do so, she strives to create a safe and compassionate therapeutic space to strengthen connection and support clients in reaching their goals.

In her free time, Carissa enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and cat, Francine. She is an avid reader, loves a good campy slasher film, can talk about conspiracy theories for days, and can quote the entirety of the movie “The Wedding Singer.”
