“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” -Maya Angelou

Andi graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies. She worked then for several years with juveniles who struggled with emotional, behavioral and mental health problems in a residential treatment facility. During this time, she also pursued and completed her Master’s in Psychology from Walden University. From there, she then worked for many years with families in their homes providing skill-based services to help them and their children work on different ways to engage and communicate in a positive and effective way with each other and develop coping tools to help manage emotions and behaviors. She also helped families find needed resources throughout the community. Andi has a lot of experience working with families and children along with people from diverse backgrounds. Becoming a therapist has always been a goal of Andi’s and Mount Mercy University has helped her pursue this life-long passion for helping and healing others.

Andi believes that with the right support change and healing is possible. Creating a warm, safe, inclusive and welcoming space for anyone who is struggling and needing help is something Andi strives to do. She believes everyone deserves to have their stories listened to is an important step to begin their journey towards growth, change and healing. Andi believes that everyone is capable of change and progress towards a better self. This can be accomplished with the right amount of empathy, compassion, patience and challenge.

In Andi’s spare time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her children, family and friends. She also loves to travel and go to concerts.
